Saturday, August 19th York and Scarborough

Tourists!  Missing the walking already. View of Yorkminster from our room Flapjacks- must try to make Saturday market in Scarborough Where exactly am I? Pubs pubs pubs! The View From Mrs. Sundbergs Window By Mrs. Sundberg Made some roasted veggies Saturday and they were not bad. Roasted cauliflower, and some red peppers, and Sweet Vidalia onion. It was what we had in the fridge, what I picked up from last week’s farmer’s market. And there were potatoes too, which I did not roast but made into yet another iteration of potato salad as I search for the Perfect Potato Salad Recipe. This one may be it. 6 potatoes, 6 hardboiled eggs, some mayo and mustard and apple cider vinegar, onion powder and garlic salt and half a jar of capers. They’re like little pickle balls and they seem to be just the thing. We’re about to turn the corner now, lately, with the sun setting a bit earlier each day, and the green of the trees fading a bit. The neighbors are rolling up their hay in big ol

Waiting in Robin Hood's Bay for our cab The luxury of space, a jacuzzi tub, and a two night stay!  It's the little things.  Tonight the four of us shared. tapas and wine at Pairings Wine Bar and I prayed (in my own way) for the Spanish after the attack in Barcelona and elsewhere.  The food offerings were just right and we enjoyed a lively "what's it all about" conversation. On a whim, we stopped a Betty's for a treat.  Famous place! Our hotel here Tomorrow is a free day to wander and rest.  And contemplate re-entry.  It will be a day that just unfolds of its own accord. A wise person a long time ago gave us the advice about our relationship:  We wait for each other.  Yes, we do.  And it always gets better as a result. And some sweet words here to end this blog: The View From Mrs. Sundbergs Window By Mrs. Sundberg Made some roasted veggies Saturday and they were not bad. Roasted cauliflower, and some red peppers, and Sweet Vidalia onion. It was what we had in

Thursday, August 17 Littlebeck to Robin Hood's Bay!!!!!

Just to start the day off right, here's the corrected score from our Grand Slam the other night: We have arrived in Robin Hood's Bay, the finale of this journey.  It's been quite a day as the photos will show.  Sunshine all the way.  Wainwright in crafting this last day included some of all the aspects of this walk including big muddy pear bogs, some fields, some rock climbing, a few stiles to go through and the North Sea as we started on the Irish Sea.  Tomorrow onto York.  Tiredness is sinking in and it feels good.    Leaving our stones. Dinner with Maria and another Etton Mess. Thank you Maria for showing us this incredible way.  And now sweet sleep.

Phew enjoyed our stay here.  The home is beautifully designed and updated but still maintains its English 100 years old style. Gardens are plentiful with many of the foods grown here- gooseberry jam, the veggies, etc.  Our hosts were very accommodating as we lingered after dinner to play bridge.  Speaking of bridge it was an epic game with Barbara and  me getting our grand slam!   In the morning our conversation turned to political as we tried to digest the news of the day.  The Charlottesville debacle has just happened.  Our host joined in; she is as frightened and incredulous as we are and is. It the first person we've met who has drawn the comparison between DT and Hitler.  Disturbing.   We are at that time in our journey where we are ready to stop, to return to our homes but also realize the difficulties we will have when our bodies and souls crave the walking, the movement, the fresh aire, and the simplicity of this way of being.  We know that we must stay informed but we need

Second time posting. Internet is sketchy. First, we missed the turn and walked on towards Rosedale.  Just as we were checking the GPS app, we got a text from Evelyn saying that they saw us leave the C2C but couldn't catch us!  We reversed direction and all was well.   Beautiful home cooked meal tonight. And Barbara and I triumphed in Bridge with a Grrand Slam! Foggy morning turned quickly sunny!

Sent to me today from someone I love dearly: I am putting out prayers of ease, health, wellness, prosperity for myself and loved ones from this day onwards! I will walk with this today. Porridge was a different experience this morning. A glass of drambouie came on the side to pour over the porridge! That was the medicine we all needed to lift our spirits as we set out. The day's walk was short and easy.  After one steep climb, we remained on the crest, walking across the moors on an old railroad bed.  The wind blew intensely but it is warm and our Goretex protected.  B&K walked ahead with the Aussies and Evelyn.  Craig and I enjoyed a mostly silent time, walking in sight of each other but immersed in our own experience. This way of walking  is familiar to us and we can lapse into it easily. It works well to re-set. And appreciate.  And feel grateful.  And feel joyful.  And all that stuff!!  Now we're in our room waiting for our luggage to arrive.  The happy sounds of
