Sunday, August 13  Ingleby Cross to Clay Bank 12.4 miles

I had such a lovely sleep and I'm up early- so far the only one about listening to the roosters and watching the sunrise.  Having my delicious French press coffee.  We left the Yorkshire Dales National Park and today will cross the North York Moors National Park for our final route to the North Sea.

I felt so en enveloped in this bed 

We always have coffee or tea available in our rooms.


The table is set for breakfast .

We walked through the moors today up and down, up and down.  The heather is blooming as you will see in the photos.  The sun was out.  Glorious views, lots of people out walking; a big day. We arrived at our pick up place around 4:15 and we're driven to our hotel a couple miles off the trail and out of town.

Oh how luxurious the simple pleasures are.  A bath, a rest and dinner. By 8 PM we confessed we were all too tired to engage in a game of bridge.  Tomorrow will be a shorter day! We are only 4 days away from Robin Hood's Bay!

But today was a day made in heaven!

Tuesday August 15 Blakey Ridge to Glaisdale12.8 miles

Second time posting. Internet is sketchy. First, we missed the turn and walked on towards Rosedale.  Just as we were checking the GPS app, we got a text from Evelyn saying that they saw us leave the C2C but couldn't catch us!  We reversed direction and all was well.   Beautiful home cooked meal tonight. And Barbara and I triumphed in Bridge with a Grrand Slam! Foggy morning turned quickly sunny!

Monday August 14 Claybank to Blakey Ridge 8.3 miles

Sent to me today from someone I love dearly: I am putting out prayers of ease, health, wellness, prosperity for myself and loved ones from this day onwards! I will walk with this today. Porridge was a different experience this morning. A glass of drambouie came on the side to pour over the porridge! That was the medicine we all needed to lift our spirits as we set out. The day's walk was short and easy.  After one steep climb, we remained on the crest, walking across the moors on an old railroad bed.  The wind blew intensely but it is warm and our Goretex protected.  B&K walked ahead with the Aussies and Evelyn.  Craig and I enjoyed a mostly silent time, walking in sight of each other but immersed in our own experience. This way of walking  is familiar to us and we can lapse into it easily. It works well to re-set. And appreciate.  And feel grateful.  And feel joyful.  And all that stuff!!  Now we're in our room waiting for our lug...
