August 5 Patterdale to Bamford Grange 14.5 Crown and Mitre

Busted up but we made it.  Such a grueling day climbing so steeply and then coming down over crag after crag.  Hopefully the photos will show.

We arrived late , about 6 pm at the Crown and Mitre.  Dinner at 6:30 until 9:30 and we drank our share and ate and even had our share of desserts including Lemon posset with raspberry cream!

Our new motto: "say no to chips."

I can't write more tonight. Sleep is coming.

I'm catching up tonight from August 6th.

It really was a strenuous day with so much climbing up to the peak and then to get down we basically scrambled over rocks.  For a long time. Then once we reached the lake, we hiked parallel for miles as the temperature actually climbed and the sun came out.

We hiked separately today to honor each couple's pace and met at the hotel.  We're all glad to be moving out of the Lakes area where the terrain and navigation should be easier.

Expectations of strolling through pristine English countryside, wandering through hamlets, stopping to admire gardens and drink tea, buying some sweet gifts for babies and friends- well none of that has happened yet!
