August 6 Bamford Grange to Orton 12.3 miles Primrose Cottage (Teebay)

We have just tucked in for the day in a very lovely B&B. We are out of the Lakes district which translates to not having to navigate across mountain peaks, with little signage while slogging through sheep shit and mud that has the potential to allow one to sink in and fill the boot! And then add some wind, rain, and fog!

But we've walked that region and the people we've met are all good souls and like minded in terms of this journey and life in general. Food's been good, coffee's fine and the beer and wine abundant. Scenery is gorgeous. Today we crossed moor-ish like fields with rocks and heather; the gardens are lush with flowers.

Our server at the bar that we stopped in as we came into town did comment that, "it rains every day here." I do believe Seattle has met its match!!

Passing the Shap Abbey

A lovely grocery store with the provisions we enjoy.  Lunch bought and here we found the Mint Humbugs that Maria recommended to get us through the rough moments.  We love them!

Our home for the night.  It's a good one- possibly the best so far.

Evelyn from Germany.  We met a few days ago and here we are again!  Laughing at the dinner offering. (Sizzler yet to come)

Hemingway says to mention "the people, the places, and how the weather was."  People are great, place is quite lovely and the umbrella blew inside out.
