Saturday August 12 Danby Wiske to Ingleby Cross 9.5 miles

Wow!!  Look at these signs:

By next Saturday we'll be in York having accomplished this trek (god willing and the creek don't rise) - something like that.

Good morning beautiful world!  This I say to my grandchildren upon waking in the morning.  A new lease on life.  What I love about this travel is the way moods and feelings can flow through, not sticking.  Yesterday felt a bit like Creator and we laughed about that.  The weather had turned dreary but a lovely meal and a good sleep has altered.  We're ready to be walking again.  And now we're on the last leg with the goal in sight.

I saw a photo on FB this morning of my brother' s beautiful challah bread he bakes.  Lots of loving thoughts sent in that direction.  I'm a lucky girl.

And now, packing and breakfast.  Back to the walk!

A flat walk today across fields of grain

There's time for camaraderie and time for reflection

Saying goodbye to Evelyn again.

A stop in the village before our climb up to Parkhouse.  We walk so we can eat!!!!!

Sometimes life is perfect

We discovered what flapjacks are!!

We have arrived at Parkhouse where we will be for the night.  This lodge, formerly the game warden's place is deep in the woods.  We walked another mile or so from Ingleby Cross to get here and dinner will be served here family style with others who are walking the Coast 2 Coast.  It's lovely.  We're tucked into our rooms for a couple hours to nap, shower, and relax.  Then we'll meet at the bar, have a beverage, check in with home, and then dinner.  It's the routine and we've come to savor this time.

This place has lots of history. More to come after a read and a nap.

The hares in the field are really this big!

And this bull is really this big

Barbara and I think this is the model for our guest house.  Craig?  Not so sure.

The table is set

It's called Etton Mess.  We walk to eat!!

Food's been so good.

Our dinner tonight was at the long table with a group of British folks on holiday and two other walkers.  No talk of politics but interesting conversation around the movie they'd seen with Robert Redford called The West with the accurate portrayal of how our Native Americans have been mis-treated.
